Komodo Island Overview

Named after the mythical, fire-breathing creatures of lore, Komodo dragons live only on three islands in the world: Komodo, Rinca, and Flores. While Komodo dragons were first discovered in 1910 by curious Dutch sailors, they had long inhabited local legends. Today, because of the dragons' small population, the three islands have been designated a national park; while these unique reptiles are the focus of any trip to the area, Komodo National Park also offers a excellent diving, as well as an opportunity to spot various types of wildlife.
