Savu Island Overview

Savu is the largest of a group of three islands, situated midway between Sumba and Rote, west of Timor, in Indonesia's eastern province, East Nusa Tenggara. The three islands are fringed by coral reef and sandy beaches. The capital city is Heb´a in the Western Savu district. Three kilometres from Heb´a is the traditional villagae of Namata, where ritual ceremonies are held and megalithic stones and traditional houses can be seen. Adjacent to the harbour at Heba, is a long white sandy beach which is great for snorkeling and swimming. Other attractions include an art and craft workshop at the village of Rai Lolo, 2km's from Heba.
