Pangkalan Bun Overview
Pangkalan Bun is largely a transit city for travellers heading to Tanjung Puting National Park, but it offers a few hidden surprises and is not a bad place to overnight. Unlike many Kalimantan towns, the residents have embraced the river instead of turning their backs on it, making a stroll along the boardwalk a colourful and engaging experience. Pangkalan Bun has the best range of accommodation close to Tanjung Puting, but with the airport some way south of town many travellers skip it and head straight to the national park.
